Matthew 24

All of this chapter makes me think. I read it several times.

First question: When Jesus speaks of the destruction of the temple, is he referring to an actual building? It seems to me that I had heard at one point that he is actually referring to his earthly body. Anyone else heard of this?

As for the rest of the chapter...it reminds me that we need to be vigilant in living faithful lives. Although many have predicted the end of times and the second coming (remember Harold Camping 's prediction of May21, 2011), Jesus says that "of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone." (24:36) "So too, you must also be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come." (24:44) Tomorrow it may be too late to repent. Tomorrow it may be too late to declare that Jesus is your Savior. Tomorrow it may be too late to spread God's word to someone who needs it. One cannot afford to wait until tomorrow. We must be ready!

Yes, I believe that He is referring to His body, but it also makes me think of how the curtain (in the temple) was wripped after He died on the cross.

Hello, this is Matt signed in under Holly's name. Here are my late questions for the week:
(1) I think that I understand the parable that begins 22, but what does the man who was invited but who does not wear wedding clothes (22:11-13) represent?
(2) When Jesus says that the people must obey the teachers of the law and the Pharisees because they sit in Moses' seat (23:2-3), is He saying what He actually believes or just what people of the time believed? It seems strange to tell disciples to obey people that Jesus called "blind guides" (15:13-14).
(3) Holly may have already asked, but we talked about why there isn't marriage in heaven? Will there be something in its place?

wow...i think these chapters hit hard because they are a direct warning to us that Christ could come back at any time and that we must be prepared for when he does...i must admit i get chills reading that as i picture christ saying those words and directing them towards all those who have proceeded to walk on the earth since His time...the day of Christ's return is going to be amazing and i can't imagine what those on the earth at that time are going to experience.

Hello all! Unfortunately,l I am only able to comment and not add anything new on the blog...so if someone is able to put in Matthew 27 and 28, I would be happy to put some thoughts out there on these two very filled chapters....
