Matthew 19: 23-25, 29

Is this verse really referring to physical wealth? If so, why can't one have both physical wealth and the kingdom of God?

I don't understand the connection between giving up your "brothers or sisters or father or mother or children..." and eternal life.

Maybe this has something to do with a preoccupation with the earthly world as opposed to the heavenly world? I am not sure. I know He wants us to lie down our life so we can live for Him and perhaps if that is what we are to do to truly follow him, then our earthly wealth wouldn't be so great. Is He saying that if you whole heartedly love Him, then you would be giving your riches to others who are in greater need? Disclaimer...this is just my interpretation...What do you guys think? The more you have the more you want and you don't want to give freely to others?
