Close to Home

Hello All~ I have been praying about ways to help those around us. God led me to the Washington City Mission website, and sadly what I saw was that they are currently experiencing a food shortage. I throw away food because it spoils, yet mothers are bringing their young children to the Mission so they can be fed while school is out for the summer, therefore creating a shortage.

This saddens me, and I want to help. I will talk more about this with Paul tomorrow to see if there are any logistics that we need to know/follow, but, I was thinking we could possibly organize an urgent food drive (possibly incorporate with VBS this week??). This would be a great way to involve the kids. I know timing is so hard right now with summer, but please let me know if this is something that you all think that we could organize as a team!

Hello there! I am not sure if anyone is on here except you and I Amanda, but I wanted to let you know that I came across something else we could also possibly do...there are volunteers needed at Light of Life on Mon/Wed/Thurs from 9:30-12:30.
They need people to read, play and do arts and crafts with the kiddos (and also nursery). They also need people to provide and prepare healthy lunches...
Perhaps this could be something that the ladies do with/without kids, or as couples (I am not sure if Paul could do these times on any of these days as I am not sure of his work schedule??).
Let me know what you guys think of this (also more details can be found at biblechapel.org go to ministries and community involvement). I would love it if we could solidify something to do together soon so we can all keep our excitement for God and helping others.

Well finally have our Internet up and running again so I apologize for not keeping up with the posts. Those sound like great volunteer opportunities and I would definitely be interested in helping however we can. I'd really like to follow through with these ideas!
